Shay Myers designs and builds spaces and objects at the intersection of modernist thinking and vernacular making — guided by an ethos rooted in craft, culture and tradition.

He is a licensed architect and general contractor with a background in metal fabrication, carpentry, earthen construction and furniture making - currently rooted in the Mountain West (Utah) and Midwest (Ohio) regions.

Shay has worked across the country for renowned architects, builders and artists including Marmol Radziner and James Hubbell in California, Demetriades + Walker in Connecticut, Terry Boling in Cincinnati, HKS Architects in Salt Lake City and 2757 Design Co in Colorado.

His primary interests lie in the intersection of contemporary design with traditional craft and knowledge - blending Modernist thinking in the Bauhaus lineage with training as a carpenter, furniture maker and fabricator. His work pulls from vernacular inspirations of the regions that he works in, including his Amish roots in the American Midwest by way of Switzerland.

His design-build methodology preferences regional materials and ways of building, including integration with local landscape, geography and culture to create spaces and objects that center people and place.

He is principal and owner of Solstice Design Studio with partner, Caroline Wallace.
